4: Nothing is worse than having an unbelievable find or story, and no one is there to bear witness that it even actually happened. Plus, when detecting with a partner we get to share the moment of a great find, together.
5: Safety in numbers allows you detect those shady parts of town with a buddy. Every state has questionable neighborhoods or areas that we should use caution around. Detecting with a buddy adds a layer of safety since four eyes are better than two.
You might even wear an orange safety vest like construction workers do in an effort to blend in.
6: The Adventure. Sometimes the hunt is better than the finds. Like the time my buddy Russ and I got to detect at a late 1800’s mansion.
We only found one silver dime and some relics, but the opportunity to detect there was a privilege and we had a blast just being there and cutting up together.
In addition to the benefits mentioned above, the camaraderie and friendly banter is where the real treasure is a lot of times. Sure, detecting alone is a great way to ‘get away from it all’ and definitely has it’s own benefits, but being out there with a good buddy or two, sharing the finds and encouraging each other is a great way to spend a day detecting.
If you don’t detect with a partner, you might consider it in the future… ya never know, you just might like it!
