Recently I read a forum post where a guy was mad that a store employee took coins that his child found in the reject tray of the coin star machine. Some folks on that thread suggested that the guy should go back in there and give that store manager a piece of his mind for taking the coins from his son.
Since there was a question raised of who actually owned those coins, I decided to contact Coin Star and asked them who owns the coins left in the reject tray of Coin Star machines.
Today I received a response from Coin Star and here is the official response from the company, and I quote:
“Hello,Thank you for your e-mail. To answer your question, the coins that are left in the reject slot belong to the last customer that used the kiosk and in the event of finding them, the store personnel should be informed, and coins should be left with them.Thank you,Coinstar Customer Service800-928-2274Reference # 8001951990″
This should clear up any confusion and chatter on the forums and elsewhere, now you know the proper avenue for handling coins you find in the reject tray of Coin Star Machines
