A Punch In the Face – Detecting Scenario 6

A Punch In the Face – Detecting Scenario 6

As you are driving home from work you pass by a beautiful old farmhouse that you have been wanting to detect for a long time.

You pull into the driveway to ask permission to metal detect and notice two very old shade trees in the front yard. Those large trees could be a honey hole for some great finds.

You get out of your car and walk up to the door. When you ring the doorbell an angry drunk answers and punches you right in the face.

Emotional

Well, that wasn’t very nice! All you wanted to do is metal detect! What Would you do?.

Final Thoughts

Often the “correct answer” seems obvious, but that might not be what you would actually do.

After reading the above detecting scenario think about what you might do if you found yourself in this situation. Please Leave A Comment in the comments section below, or reply to this article’s Twitter or FB post with your thoughts.

First I would make sure my metal Detecter is OK….then ask him if he would prefer me call the police, and sue him for assault….or make amends and let me metal detect around his property…..and probably thank my lucky stars he hasn’t got a big dog.

When I ring the doorbell on a stranger’s home I always take several steps away from the door. If a woman answers the door you are less threatening at a distance than right up at the door. This would mean the angry drunk would have to come out of the house to try and punch me. I watch closely when knocking on strange doors in case there is an aggressive dog inside that may dart out. As the drunk came out I would be backing away and if he seemed intent on harming me I would draw my sidearm and shoot him if he didn’t stop. Then I suppose I’d call 911 and report the shooting. Hopefully that scenario would never occur, A blow to the head can be lethal so deadly force can be used if you are in fear of your life. I’m assuming that the drunk is a younger man than I am. If he was older than me(I’m in my 60’s) I would probably just try and avoid him punching me and leave. As soon as I could, I would call the police or sheriff’s dept and report the lunatic and his actions. If he did manage to hit me I would press charges and have him arrested.

more than likely I would fall backwards and hit the ground, after I woke up I would say thanks glad you killed that fly on my nose…. say..”what was that for” go from there….hope didn’t try to do it again,
