Broken Pipes – Detecting Scenario 4

Broken Pipes – Detecting Scenario 4

You finally got permission to metal detect at a spot that you’ve been wanting to detect for a long time. You are detecting in a nice yard of an expensive home while the occupants are away.

After a couple of hours you get a nice sounding signal and decide to dig it. This particular tone sounds so sweet that you can not wait to see what it is!

Unfortunately, After digging six inches down you notice that your target is actually a brass fitting for a lawn irrigation system. Your shovel just misses the brass fitting but it pierces the PVC pipe!

Water erupts out of the ground and is shooting straight up in a 15’ geyser. Uh ohh!

I know what I did. But what would you do?

In this the water line Scenario I would look for the water shut off valve, dig down and around the pipe, see just what it took to fix it go to the hardware store get the parts, go to the house and get any other stuff I might need and go back and fix it, leave it uncovered and a note for the home owner to call me when he got home, the go back and show him what had happen and what repairs I had made, ( and the give him my bill for fixing his cheep water line because if it cut that easy it is surly a cheep system….) no just kidding about the bill…LOL…
