1. 1969-S Lincoln Cent With a Doubled Die Obverse
The 1969-s cent is very rare because at one time they were confiscated by the Secret Service due to many counterfeits on the market. However, the counterfeits have the wrong mint mark and are easily spotted.
How to Spot It:
Look for obvious doubling of the entire “heads” side (obverse) except for the mint mark. If the mint mark is doubled it is probably a case of strike doubling rather than a doubled die and isn’t worth much.
Approximate Value: $35,000 or more in EF-40 condition or better.

Hi Amy, it is more likely that your penny was made in a school ‘shop’ class. This article explains the process of turning a penny silver more thoroughly. We appreciate your comment, thanks for being a Detecting365 reader!
I have an 1967 half dollar, an 1899 British cent, and an 1855 Mexican coin.Is it worth anything?
Hi there! You can check out some websites like coinflation.com or cointrackers.com they may help you determine the value of your coins. Thanks for reading Detecting365 Metal Detecting magazine!
Where can I sell the Lincoln error pennies? I have a lot of them.
Wow, I had no idea that these coins, which we probably handle or throw in the change jar, are worth more than the face value. I was especially impressed with the 1970-S Small Date Penny. I am positive I have seen one of these in my lifetime and never took the time to check out it’s true value. It’s worth possibly over $3,000!
i have a 1946 dime how can i tell if its worth anything
check out coinflation.com 🙂
I have a 1925 silver dollar. what is your take on this coin, since the article says that a1964 or earlier minted silver dollar is worth its weight in silver. I would like to have a collector make me a offer.
The value of your specific coin would be based on the condition as well as rarity. Your best bet would be to take it to a couple of dealers and ask their opinions to get an idea of what it is worth. Likewise, there are images on the internet that show you side by side the conditions and what they look like. Wish you the best!
I have lots silver quarter are they worth anything
It depends on rarity, condition, etc…
I have a 2004 dime, face of dime has copper blended in. Is it worth more than a dime?
Hi Jeff, your dime is 91.67% Copper and 8.33% Nickel, so most likely it isn’t worth much more than face value. Take it to a coin dealer and ask him, they’ll be able to answer your question more definitively. Thanks for reading Detecting365!
