How to Spot It:

The weakness in the word “LIBERTY” in the rare Small Date makes this coin easily distinguishable. Doubling in “LIB” and “In God We Trust” are both indicators of the Doubled Die Obverse.

Approximate Value: Around $3,000 in EF-40 or better.

    Wow, I had no idea that these coins, which we probably handle or throw in the change jar, are worth more than the face value. I was especially impressed with the 1970-S Small Date Penny. I am positive I have seen one of these in my lifetime and never took the time to check out it’s true value. It’s worth possibly over $3,000!
