KEEPER: This was one of my first Civil War relics from Middle Tennessee. It is a harness buckle cover, or blanket roll cover (depending on which Civil War “expert” you talk to), probably Civilian, but widely used by soldiers and found on Civil War sites with some regularity.
SITE: Randomly walking through the woods detecting a few years back
SITE EVALUATION: 5 of 10 Sparse signals in heavy woods
PERMISSION: None. Just some unposted woods near my house.
Relics are Where you Find Them: This silly phrase always pops into my head. If you are in a really good Civil War area, hunt every square foot you can. Something good could be on any square foot of any site.
